WONDER WOMAN WEIGHS IN ON WONDER WOMAN

WW.Wonder_Woman.Lynda-Carter.Former Wonder Woman star Lynda Carter recently did an interview with The Huffington Post and weighed in with her thoughts on the iconic character returning to the spotlight with Gal Gadot and the Man Of Steel (2013) follow-up. Lynda may not be the official "first" live action Wonder Woman (Cathy Lee Crosby has that honor), but she is defined the most recognized after starring in the hit television series in the 1970's.

"I'm in her corner. I just hope they write well for her!" Lynda says of Gal Gadot's upcoming role as the Amazonian Princess. "I'm very hopeful she embodies the essence of Wonder Woman," she told the Huffington Post, "It's less about super powers and more about heart and intellect and a sense of right and wrong with a goodness in her." She also adds, "Often times, writers really want to take a male superhero and dress him up as a female - and that's just not who she is."

It is nice to see that she supports Gal, though it seems to be the trend amongst those who have actually played the parts of iconic superheroes and villains. Any negative feedback on things seem to come from the actors who may be fans, may also be bitter about not getting cast, or ever being cast. Lynda Carter also seemed to nail things on the head in that it it falls onto the shoulders of the writing of the character and how they plan to portray her. Two routes are generally taken with female characters, men dressed as women like she said, but also as pure sex symbols. Hopefully, neither of these are the case in the Man Of Steel follow-up. Like everything in this film, we must wait and see. Things are about to film in Detroit (enter Batfleck) so it won't be long before we get an idea of the direction of both the film and the icon that is Wonder Woman.
